Sinfonietta no. 1 “Of Nature”

The movements of this symphony were written and are published separately.  The first movement was commissioned by the Rockwall-Heath High School Band for the opening of their new performance hall.  The second movement was commissioned by Region XV of the Texas Music Educators Association for the 2004-2005 Coakley Middle School Symphonic Band’s TMEA Honor Band performance, Joseph and Barbara Figarelli, directors.  It was also a finalist in Category Two of the 2006 Frank Ticheli Composition Contest.  The fourth movement was commissioned jointly by the Hill Country Middle School Bands in Austin, Texas, Cheryl Floyd, Kevin Jedele, and Chuck Fishers, directors, and the University of Texas at Austin Symphony Band, Dr. Robert Carnochan, conductor. It was winner of both the 2003 Biennial College Band Directors National Association Young Band Composition Competition and the 2004 Claude T. Smith Memorial Band Composition Contest.
